Saint Lucia Nurses Council

The Saint Lucia Nurses Council, formally known as the General Nursing Council of Saint Lucia, is the regulatory authority responsible for overseeing the registration, licensing, and professional conduct of nurses, midwives, nurse practitioners, and nursing assistants in Saint Lucia. Its core functions include maintaining official registers and rolls, approving training institutions, setting examination standards, issuing certificates, and enforcing disciplinary measures when necessary. The Council also advises the Minister of Health on matters related to nursing and midwifery practice and ensures that only qualified individuals are permitted to practice.

The guiding legislation is the Registration of Nurses and Midwives Act, which outlines the Council’s powers, duties, and regulatory framework. This Act governs everything from registration requirements and professional standards to penalties for unauthorized practice and falsification of credentials.
