The Piton Management Area (PMA) in Saint Lucia is overseen by the Piton Management Area Advisory Committee (PMAAC), a multi-agency body responsible for the sustainable management and preservation of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The PMAAC includes representatives from government ministries, local development foundations, environmental agencies, and community groups. Its functions include monitoring development, enforcing conservation guidelines, promoting public awareness, and safeguarding the ecological and cultural integrity of the PMA. The PMA Office, established in 2006, acts as the committee’s secretariat and ensures compliance with the Physical Planning and Development Act (Cap. 5.12) and Statutory Instrument No. 7 of 2024, which legally protect the area and guide its management through the Limits of Acceptable Change framework.
