The Parastatal Monitoring Department (PMD) is mandated to monitor the non-financial performance of parastatal entities. Its focus includes evaluating governance, transparency, compliance, operational effectiveness and overall organisational performance. Through comprehensive non-financial reviews, the PMD identifies both strengths and areas requiring improvement, particularly in strategic alignment, risk management and legal compliance.
Where gaps are identified in performance management, internal controls, or reporting, the PMD issues targeted recommendations aimed at strengthening governance frameworks, enhancing transparency and improving risk and compliance practices.
This area involves monitoring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, providing policy advice, and advising on workplace standards. The Department also conducts investigations and evaluations to enhance transparency, efficiency, and the overall effectiveness of service to the public. In support of institutional development, the Department in the near to medium term seek assistance on training initiatives, reform programs, and strategic reviews and reviews of existing structures and frameworks.
