Electrical Licensing Authority

The Electrical Licensing Authority (ELA) of Saint Lucia, established under the Electricity Supply Act, Cap. 9.02, regulates electrical practitioners to safeguard public safety and maintain industry standards. It licenses qualified wiremen and linesmen, sets professional qualifications, conducts examinations, and issues competency certificates. The Authority also inspects and certifies electrical installations, investigates incidents, and enforces compliance with safety regulations. By ensuring only trained professionals perform electrical work, it protects consumers, reduces hazards, and supports reliable national infrastructure.
