The state-of-the-art solar carport will not only supply clean, renewable energy directly to HIA, but will also usher in a new era of green mobility with publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging powered entirely by the sun. The project will also feature a 430-kilowatt peak (kWp) solar PV array that will generate renewable energy to help offset the airport’s electricity consumption, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
“This project is more than infrastructure it is a declaration of our intent to lead by example in the Caribbean’s green transition,” said Mr. Jumaane Paul, Chief Engineer of the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA). “By integrating clean energy with modern transportation solutions, we are creating a smarter, more sustainable future for all.”
